Asbestos Monitoring
Airborne asbestos fibre exposure assessment and clearance monitoring
What Is Asbestos Monitoring?
Asbestos monitoring quantifies airborne asbestos fibre concentrations during removal, disturbance, or remediation activities. Phase contrast microscopy (PCM) is the standard analytical method, with transmission electron microscopy (TEM) used for clearance and low-level assessments.
The WES of 0.1 fibres/mL TWA-8h applies to all forms of asbestos. Monitoring is legally required during licensed asbestos removal work and is critical for issuing clearance certificates that allow reoccupation of work areas.
How Is It Done?
Personal and static air sampling using membrane filter cassettes. Analysis by phase contrast microscopy (NOHSC 3003) or TEM for clearance.
